What is mediation likely to cost?
- Naturally, you will be concerned about mediation costs. However, your first meeting with a mediator (known as a MIAM) will cost no more than £192 (including VAT)
- At your first meeting, we will, if you wish, assess whether or not you qualify for Legal Aid, provided that you bring with you all the required information for that assessment
- If you are both eligible for Legal Aid, you will not have to pay for the MIAM and any subsequent meetings
- If one person qualifies for Legal Aid, and the other doesn’t, the non-qualifying client is still entitled to a MIAM, and the first joint meeting will be free of charge
- It is essential that you provide documents to prove your eligibility for Legal Aid – without these, we cannot grant you Legal Aid for mediation
- If you are not eligible for Legal Aid, you will receive detailed information on the full mediation costs of the process before commencement
