Farnfields Mediation News

Here to help on family law when you need us

The Farnfields Family team is still very much available to you through these unprecedented times. We are aware that problems within a relationship or problems about contact between separated parents with children and disputes about maintenance and finances are on the rise due to the requirement to stay at home and the economic impact of the COVID-19 virus.

You may be experiencing difficulties with your partner such as domestic violence or another form of abuse. Our team can advise you of your rights and what you may be able to do to make the behaviour stop, or how to leave the home if the behaviour is so bad.

Contact arrangements with children and moving them between the two parents’ households is allowable under current guidance. A parent may stop this contact with the other if they have a cause to do so in the current circumstances. That could be that one parent lives with someone who is vulnerable or is “shielding” and the risk of transfer of the disease between the households is too high.

The economic impact of the virus might mean that a former partner is refusing, or is unable to pay already agreed, or court-ordered payments. Our team can advise you on the courses of action open to you in these circumstances.
